WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A PAIN SPECIALIST?

The most important thing at the time of assessment by a pain specialist is that you have very well identified your main painful symptom. The more specific you can be with the description of your condition and the more information you can provide to the physician, the easier it will be for us to provide you with care and help.

Also, don’t forget to take with you:

  • Identity document, order and authorization of the health entity to which you belong (if applicable).
  • Previous medical history
  • Tests related to your painful condition (labs, x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, EMGs and others as appropriate).
  • List of medications you are currently taking for any pathology.
  • List of medications you have received for your current condition.

WHAT IS A BLOCKAGE?

It is a diagnostic test to clarify the cause of the pain.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BLOCKAGE AND INFILTRATION?

In blockade the medication is applied close to the nerve and in infiltration the medication is applied inside a joint, ligament or muscle (For pain clinics, these words are synonymous and we refer to them as blocks).
