A neurostimulator, also known as a spinal cord stimulator or SCS (Spinal Cord Stimulation), is an implantable medical device that uses mild electrical impulses to interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain. This system consists of ultra-thin electrodes that are placed in the epidural space near the spinal cord, connected to a programmable pulse generator implanted under the skin. <\/p>\n

The device works based on the theory of pain gating, sending controlled electrical signals that “close the neurological gate” and prevent pain messages from reaching the brain. Patients can control the intensity and frequency of stimulation via an external remote control, allowing customized adjustments according to their daily needs. The implantation procedure is performed in two stages: first a temporary trial to assess efficacy, followed by definitive implantation if the results are satisfactory. <\/p>\n
